Book Review: Clouds on the Ground
Autumn Williams exceeded all our expectations with her first length poetry collection “Clouds on the Ground.” In the introduction, she describes her struggle with chronic illness and how her experiences helped shape her poetry. As someone living with chronic pain, these poems resonate deeply with me. But anyone who is a dreamer will love these poems.
Most of this collection is composed of micro poetry. Autumn is skilled at saying so much with so few words. Broken up into four seasons, she describes longing and hope, gratitude and grief. Many of the poems are untitled, which gives it a continuous feel. If you like poetry that tell a story, this one is for you. The duality of this collection had me turning its pages until the very end. This is a collection I will read over and over again. She truly illustrates the idea of clouds on the ground: facing hardships, yet remaining hopeful.
Today is this book’s birthday and it has reached #2 on the nature poetry bestseller list for kindle books. Congratulations, Autumn, and thank you for sharing your first full length collection with us!
